Cyclocross season begins!

This weekend was the beginning of the Utah Cyclocross race series.  The first race of the year was held at the Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City.  The weather was great and the course was fast and dry.

I didn't have a great race, but I felt pretty good.  I could have done better though as I had plenty of go left in me at the end.  I should have given it more.  Oh well, that's what next week is for.  I finished in 28th place in the Men's C division.  Definately not first, but far enough from last place to feel good about it.

Jason Sparks and Jack Gage raced in the 35+ B division.  Jason was fast and finished with an awesome 3rd third place.  Way to go Jason!

Anyhow, here are some of the pictures that I got.

Next week the race is at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden.  One of my favorite courses.  I have only raced there when it was snowing, so it should be a bit different when it's dry.  I'm looking forward to it.  Hope to see more team mates there, too.

Labor Day was a good one this year.

Labor Day weekend was nice here in Brigham City.  The weather is already starting to change and there were some cold temperatures as I walked out the front door to head over to Kent's for the Saturday ride.

We had a good size group show up at 7:30 for some bagels and juice, courtesy of the good folks at Kent's Market.  At 8:00ish, we headed out for the ride.  The wind was calm in Brigham City when we left, but we quickly found it in Bear River and Tremonton as it blew in our faces all the way to Tremonton where we turned and headed back.

It was a good ride and I'm looking forward to more like it before the season ends for the year.  We also got a great photo on Debora's phone so I thought I would share.
It was the biggest group that we have had show up in a while and it was great to see so many smiling faces.

Welcome!!

Welcome to the new blog site of the Golden Spike Cycling Club in Brigham City, Utah.  The club was established in 2011 in Brigham City as a way to unite the cycling community and to promote cycling as a healthy and fun way to get and stay in shape as well as meet a lot of great people that you probably wouldn't otherwise.  We are also here to help everyone meet their cycling goals, whether that is to race or just have fun and get some excercise.

Stay tuned here for news regarding the club as well as ride reports and if we can figure out a calendar, we will put up some information regarding events and club rides so that everyone is informed.
